DEI Committees

The work of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion could not be done without the committed work of partners inside and outside of Emory. Committees working under the leadership of Carol Henderson, Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, Chief Diversity Officer, and Adviser to the President

Executive Leadership Council

This council will serve in an advisory capacity to the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, Chief Diversity Officer, advancing diversity as an institutional value and academic and communal priority. We want to strengthen our commitment to the principles and values of diversity and equity, ensuring that they are core to the educational experience here at Emory. As a guiding principle, we want diversity and inclusion to be both a compositional and intellectual enterprise in order to foster a more inclusive, engaging, and welcoming campus community.

Business Diversity Advisory Council

The business diversity advisory council will consist of cross departmental leaders who interface with the local community. The council will work to build strategies and identify opportunities for diverse businesses and neighborhood residents in the Greater Atlanta Metropolitan Area. Overs a series of meetings, this council will develop a strategic framework which will guide our actions over the next three years. The goals are to achieve a leadership position in Metro Atlanta by demonstrating good economic citizenship, which leads to the creation of jobs and the sustained economic viability of the community; align with Emory’s commitment to diversity, which helps attract leading faculty, staff, and students, as well as build stronger relationships with alumni; enable Emory to work with businesses that will help drive competition, innovation, high service levels, and new ways of thinking throughout our University.

Diversity Liaison Commission

We want to strengthen our commitment to the principles and values of diversity and equity, ensuring that they are core to the educational experience here at Emory. As a guiding principle, I want to find out what has been done in the past with the Division Committees on Community and Diversity.

Executive Leadership Council of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

In an effort to coordinate DEI efforts across the Emory Enterprise, this Executive Leadership Council of CDO/DEI Practitioners has been established to align unit, school, and college DEI efforts with the Institutional Mission of DEI. Three themes have emerged in the many conversations on DEI—Professional Development, Education and Awareness; Climate and Culture; Accountability. We will continue to highlight efforts in these three areas and build upon the conversations already in progress around the One Emory: Engaged for Impact Strategic Framework, the Class and Labor Report of 2013, our institutional values and principles, and the yearly Affirmative Action Plan.
